The plot of land upon which the Geneseo Family Restaurant stands has a history dating back to 1832. The first establishment on this lot was the Eagle Hotel. Within the walls of this very hotel the first Geneseo village meeting was held after Geneseo was incorporated.
In 1872 the hotel was renamed as the Globe Hotel under the proprietorship of I. J. Stratton, a Civil War veteran. The building burned down in 1900. Fourteen years later, it was rebuilt as the Stanley Hotel. It was later renamed again; this time it was called the Geneseo Hotel. This, too, burned down in 1967.
The current building was erected in the 70’s. Recently it has been the Omega Restuarant. The establishment has been operating under the name Geneseo Family Restaurant for 12 years under the management of the Tsoukalos family.
